Resistors power our technology.
From managing load peaks in the energy sector to managing our public transport.
We offer a versatile range of resistors for highly demanding brands such as Siemens.

Brake resistors are used for lifting and driving gears, elevator drives, conveyors, drives on manipulators as well as all drives where fast speed changes need to be controlled.
Brake resistors for smaller ratings can be installed together with the other equipment in the switchgear unit.
Brake resistor units within a small power range are available in IP65.
Due to the heat formation, resistors for larger ratings often have their own casing and are installed separately.
The possible degree of protection can range from IP00 to IP23.
We also deliver brake resistor plates separately for all standard systems used on the European market as well as spares for superseded models from AEG, BBC, ABB and others.
All systems supplied by Siemens to date are completely available.
For new units, only the systems GINO and Siemens 3PR3 should be used.

Grounding resistors limit an earth fault current occurring in the event of an error to a maximum value until the safety devices shut down the faulty circuit.
Neutral Grounding Resistors (NGR) are used for the low- and high- ohm grounding of the neutral point in medium voltage grids.
Our grounding resistors consist of the resistor banks with resistor elements made from cast iron with or without surface protection or steel grid elements.
This list comprises cast iron resistors of the system GINO.
Alternatively, also resistors with stainless steel elements can be offered and manufactured.
One or several resistor banks are installed in an insulated module and one or several modules are arranged in one housing.
The housings are made from welded sectional steel frame with steel sheet cladding.
3-coat painting systems with 2-component paints protect the surface. The standard colour is RAL 7032.

High performance resistors meet the different requirements for special, customer-specific solutions.
Enclosed resistor profiles are also available in three-phase design and integrated star-type jumper or equipped with a shielded connecting line.
The high-performance resistors can be mounted as standalone units or on a mounting base.
The mounting area must be resistant to the intended operating temperature, and flame-retardant.
Any installation location is possible. Optimum cooling conditions are achieved in vertical position with the connecting wires at the lower end.
The DEG types are also suitable for operation in high humidity conditions.
In the standard design, the resistors are mounted on a terminal block so that the resulting type of enclosure is IP20 or, with connection box or connection line, IP54.
Cable entry is ensured through cable glands.

Load and test resistors are used for tests, maintenance and protection of energy sources and testing stations.
These resistors are used in 4 different applications: generator testing, switchgear testing, airport and the military sector.
We can provide top quality resistors that are fully customer adjustable for all these applications.
Depending on the application, various steel grid elements, type NW / WG or DWG of X10 CrAL13 or X5 NiCr 18 9, are employed as resistor material.
Especially for the lower load stages with higher Ohm values, wire-wound frames with CuNi 44 or NiCr 3020 windings are available.
For short-time loads with very high pulse energy, resistor elements of high graded cast iron are used.
The resistor elements are combined in packages and mounted in the housing/air duct.
Temperature-resistant insulated wire or copper bars, depending on the power rating, are used for wiring the load stages.

The relevant DIN standards and VDE regulations as well as individual customer specifications are applied.
– DIN VDE 0100 / IEC 364 Erection of Power Installations with Voltages up to 1000 V
– DIN VDE 109 / IEC 664 Insulation Coordination within Low-Voltage Systems
– DIN VDE 0110 Determination of Clearances and Creepage Distances
– DIN VDE 0560 Low-voltage Switchgear and Control gear Assemblies
– DIN 40050 / IEC 144 Types of Enclosure

The units comply with the EC Low-Voltage Directive and obtain CE marking.

Together with separate resistors, the air-cooled motor starters start three-phase motors with slip-ring rotors of up to 2000 kW and rotor voltages of up to 2000 V.
The type and design of the motor starters can be optimally adjusted to the individual application.
3PK4 motor starters comply with the specifications for low-voltage equipment
DIN EN 60947-3:2012-12; VDE 0660-107;2012-12, IEC 60947-3:2008 +A1:2012, E? 60947-3:2009 + A1:2012, DIN 46 062 DIN EN ISO 12100:2011-03, EN ISO 12100:2010, DIN 46 062 and IEC 292-3.
They conform to the EU Low Voltage Directive of 19 February 1973.
The Protection class is pursuant to DIN 40 050: IP54.

Oil-cooled starters are stepped resistance starters with 3PR3 cast iron resistors in a tank filled with mineral based insulating oil.
We acquired the 3PR3 series from Siemens in the year 2000.
The oil-cooled starters store the heat dissipated during the starting process and slowly release it to the atmosphere via the tank surface.
Therefore, they are suitable for large drives in applications with low starting frequency.
The change of resistance in the wound rotor induction motor (WRIM) rotor circuit is accomplished by successively switching out resistance steps with power contactors.
The resistance is defined by the cast elements and the transformer oil acts as an energy storage and insulation medium.
The design combines the advantages of a resistor starter with those of a more economical heat carrier (oil) and a high protection class.

According to the state of the art, rail-bound vehicles are equipped with three-phase current motors whose acceleration, speed and braking are controlled by means of power electronics.
Types like 3PQ and 6GN resistors, designed for transportation, can be found here.
During braking, the kinetic energy of the vehicle is transformed into electrical energy, returned to the grid wherever possible, and thus reused.
However, this requires a grid that can take on such energy at any time. Otherwise, the grid voltage would simply rise and the brakes will not work.
Another method is to convert the braking energy into heat using a braking resistor.

Siemens resistors are specific brand resistors for many different applications.
We deliver these for specific use on Gottwald cranes and many more.
3PR2 resistors are equipped with cast iron resistor elements type WE, which are installed in a steel sheet housing.
Ceramic strips hold and insulate the resistor elements inside the housing.
A heat shield separates the resistor zone from the terminal zone.
Connecting pieces screwed to the resistor elements supported on ceramic hold strips are used for connecting the cables.
Each resistor element can be provided with a connection. Changes or supplements regarding the connections are easy, even retroactively.
The 3PR2 Siemens system is the predecessor of the 3PR3 system. The elements are identical and exchangeable.
